Plain City's story starts on March 17, 1859, when a group of settlers led by Lorin Farr arrived to homestead along the Weber River valley. They laid the town out on an organized grid — originally six blocks north to south and three blocks east to west — and Plain City incorporated in 1944.

The city sits within an hour of three ski resorts and area state parks for boating and fishing. Plain City's population grew 43% between 2010 and 2020, reaching over 8,300 residents, and with a median home price around $610,000, it continues to draw buyers who want country-style space without leaving Weber County.
