Best Schools in South Ogden, Utah: A Parent's Guide (2026)

by Megan Smith

If you're moving to South Ogden with kids, you'll probably want to know about schools before you look at kitchens and backyards. South Ogden is a city of about 17,500 people (2020 Census) on the east side of Weber County, just south of Ogden and below the Wasatch foothills. All of its public schools are in Weber School District, and the good news for families is how simple the upper grades are: nearly every home in South Ogden feeds South Ogden Junior High and then Bonneville High School.

Below is every public school that serves South Ogden for the 2026-27 school year, the charter schools nearby, and answers to the questions parents ask me most. I'm Megan Smith, a Realtor with Real Broker, LLC. I work in South Ogden and the surrounding Weber County communities, and matching families with the right schools is a big part of my job.

A Parent's Guide to South Ogden Schools: Your Questions Answered

How do school boundaries work in South Ogden?

Weber School District assigns schools by the home's address, not by the city name in the mailing address. That matters in South Ogden, because many homes here have an "Ogden, UT" mailing address and share the 84403 and 84405 ZIP codes with Ogden, Uintah and Washington Terrace. Inside the city, three elementary schools split the neighborhoods, and Highway 89 is the line between the Uintah and H. Guy Child areas. A few homes along the western edge are zoned to Washington Terrace schools and T.H. Bell Junior High. Boundaries also change over time, so check the specific address.

How can I check which schools a specific address feeds?

Start with Weber School District's Boundary Maps page. It has separate elementary, junior high and high school maps for the 2026-27 school year. Open a map, click the magnifying glass in the lower right corner, and type in the address. If a home sits close to Highway 89 or another boundary line, call the school or the district office at (801) 476-7800 to confirm. When I'm working with a family, I check the school assignments for every home we look at before we write an offer.

Can my child attend a school outside our boundary? (Open enrollment)

Yes. Utah law allows open enrollment, so you can apply for a Weber School District school other than the one your address is zoned to. For the 2026-27 school year, the district's early application window ran from December 15, 2025 to March 6, 2026, with decisions due by March 31. Approval depends on whether the school has room, and parents handle transportation. You can apply outside the early window, but approval is less certain. Check the Weber School District website this winter for the 2027-28 dates. Charter schools have their own application and lottery timelines, so apply directly to each one.

How do schools affect home values in South Ogden?

For many buyers, the school assignment decides which homes they'll even look at. In South Ogden, the junior high and high school are the same for nearly everyone, so the elementary school is what splits the city. Parents of younger kids often compare homes in the Burch Creek, Uintah and H. Guy Child areas. Because every South Ogden home feeds Bonneville High, buyers can focus on the home, the street and the commute without worrying about a high school line.

If you're selling, list your zoned schools clearly in your listing. If you're buying, look at the whole picture (lot, commute, condition, price) and not just one school.
