Best Schools in West Haven, Utah: A Parent's Guide (2026)
If you're thinking about buying a home in West Haven, Utah, the schools question usually comes up within the first five minutes. It should. Where your kids go to school shapes your mornings, your carpool, and, a few years from now, your resale value.
West Haven has changed a lot here. In 2024, Weber School District opened three new schools built for the growth on the west side of Weber County: Haven Bay Elementary and Mountain View Junior High in West Haven, and West Field High School just north of the city line in Taylor. If you last looked at West Haven schools five years ago, the map you remember is out of date.
This guide lists every public school whose boundary reaches into West Haven, plus the charter schools closest to town. Then I answer the questions I hear most from families I work with.
School assignments below come from Weber School District's 2026–27 boundary maps. Boundaries can change, so always confirm a specific address with the district before you buy (I'll show you how below).
How West Haven Schools Are Organized
West Haven is served by Weber School District. The district runs on a three-tier setup:
- Elementary: kindergarten through 6th grade
- Junior high: 7th through 9th grade
- High school: 10th through 12th grade
West Haven is spread out, so the city is split among several elementary schools, three junior highs and two high schools. Two neighbors on the same street usually share schools. Two homes a mile apart may not.

A West Haven Parent's Guide: Your Questions, Answered
How do school boundaries work in West Haven?
Weber School District assigns every home address to one elementary, one junior high and one high school. The boundary is tied to the property, not the city name. That's why one part of West Haven goes to Kanesville Elementary and another goes to Country View. The district updates its boundary maps each school year. The big redraw happened in 2024, when Haven Bay, Mountain View and West Field opened.
How do I check which schools a specific address goes to?
Do this before you write an offer, not after:
- Go to Weber School District's Boundary Maps page.
- Open the elementary, junior high or high school map.
- Click the magnifying glass in the lower right of the map and type in the home's address.
- Repeat for all three maps.
If you're unsure about the result, call the school or the district office at 801-476-7800. When I'm working with a family, I check this for every home on our showing list, so nobody falls in love with a house that feeds the wrong school.
Can my child attend a school outside our boundary?
Often, yes. Utah has an open enrollment law, and Weber School District accepts applications for schools outside your boundary. A few things to know:
- Timing matters. The district has an early enrollment window each winter for the following school year. Check the district's Open Enrollment & Boundary Applications page for the current year's form and dates. Applications outside that window are treated as late and are approved only where there's room.
- Space decides it. A school can turn down a request when it's at capacity, and the fast-growing schools on the west side can fill up.
- You drive. If your child attends a school outside your boundary, you're responsible for getting them there.
- Charter schools are separate. You apply to each charter directly, usually through its own lottery.
My honest advice: if one particular school is a must-have for your family, buy inside its boundary instead of counting on open enrollment.
Are there new schools coming to West Haven?
The newest schools, Haven Bay Elementary, Mountain View Junior High and West Field High, opened in 2024. They were paid for by the bond Weber School District voters approved in November 2021. Families moving into West Haven's newer subdivisions now have new buildings close to home. As more neighborhoods fill in, it's smart to watch the district's boundary maps each spring.
How do schools affect home values in West Haven?
Schools are one of the first things buyers filter by, and that affects how quickly a home sells and how many buyers compete for it. In West Haven, the 2024 openings matter in two ways:
- A home's school assignment can be newer than the home. Some neighborhoods were redrawn into Haven Bay, Mountain View or West Field in 2024, so an older listing may now be paired with a brand-new school.
- Boundaries are part of resale. When you sell, the next buyer will ask the same questions you're asking now. A home with a clear, convenient school assignment is easier to market.
I won't promise any single school adds a set dollar amount to a home. Price depends on the whole picture. But I do look at school assignment for every West Haven home I help a family buy or sell.
What about walking to school and bus routes?
Weber School District provides buses to students who live outside walking distance of their boundary school. The district's Transportation page has a bus stop locator where you can enter an address. If your kids will walk, I'd also walk the actual route with them before you buy, not just check the distance.
Finding the Right Home Near the Right School
I'm Megan Smith, a Realtor with Real Broker, LLC, and West Haven is the center of the area I serve. I've spent more than 20 years in real estate as an agent and investor. I'm also a mom and an active PTSA board member, so I know what school decisions feel like from the parent side.
When you tell me which schools matter to your family, I'll check every home's boundary before we see it, explain the open enrollment options, and help you weigh school fit with price, commute and lot size. I represent buyers moving to West Haven and sellers who want their home's school assignment to work for them in the listing.
